Vibration & Sound
Virtually everything on Earth vibrates
The planet itself vibrates... all matter consists of atomic material which is in constant motion.
Motion is manifested in everything within the Universe – nothing is at rest – everything moves, vibrates, spins and circles. This motion generates frequencies, which then generate sound. Whether we hear it, everything has a sound, a vibration all its own. The velocity (frequency) of the movement determines the specific sound.
All organisms on this planet use vibration, a.k.a. energy, as the primary means of communication. Because all organisms are made out of atoms and molecules, you and I and every living thing are radiating energy, vibes. Vibration manifests in two forms, or stages. In its original condition vibration is inaudible and invisible, but in its first stage towards manifestation it becomes audible, and its next step is visible.
From the point of all mystics, the original state of the whole creation is vibration…
We are constantly being vibrated, on a cellular level, by heard and unheard sound frequencies. Sound vibrations have a tremendous influence over human functionality as sound touches and influences our emotions like no other source of input or expression. If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through our bones and our skin, basically through every cell in our bodies.
Sound & music are nutrients for the nervous system
The auditory mechanism is a mega-portal to the brain and sonic tools empower health, learning and productivity.
As early as 4,000 B.C.
The physical sound vibration of the gong provides an extraordinarily harmonizing and powerful vehicle for meditation & transformation that is mainly experiential in nature.
Throughout human history in various cultures, gongs have been used as ritual, ceremonial and sacred instruments. Ancient alchemy sources put the gong as far out as 16,000 B.C.
Due to its nature, the gong resonates all cells of the body simultaneously in a most powerful & effective way. The goal in all healing, meditative, spiritual and transformational pursuits is to raise an individuals’ vibratory frequency…
…and thereby changing a person’s nature of being, restoring the intrinsic state of balance as cells can only be in one mode or another – growth or protection. Logically deduced this means that by living in fear, you cause a state of general closure and non-growth in your own system. By cultivating love, empathy and compassion, you move into the realm of transformation and transparency. A guided meditative sound bath, or gong bath, opens portals and paves the way to reach these states.
The secret of the gong is its tremendous potential for healing and rejuvenation. Because the gong covers the full spectrum of sound, it vibrates all the cells, bones and organs, some more than others, depending upon the pitch of the gong. You hear and feel an influx of energy coming from it in your body. The gong is more accurately a force of energy, like a divine engine, affecting the body’s meridians.
Sound is being perceived through our ear, our skin and bones
A fascinating fact about hearing is the association of the ear to the pneumogastric, or tenth, cranial nerve, a.k.a. the vagus nerve because it wanders through the thoracic and abdominal cavities. It regulates the functions of many major organs, among them lungs, heart, stomach, kidneys and the liver.
Originating in the brain, it attaches to the inner and outer eardrum, the conveyors of vibrations generated by sound in the ear, and ends all the way down by the anus. As a result, sound is not just vibrating the eardrum but with the help of the vagus nerve it resonates and vibrates, or “massages”, the entire being on a cellular level.
Holistic Sound Healing through rhythmic vibrations
Many modalities read your symptoms and approach the body according to your illness. Holistic sound healing works differently.
What sound therapists do is approach the body as if it were already whole and complete. The body is being filled with vibrations that emphasize wholeness and resonance, and whatever the problem, the sound will go to that place that needs it, your body will pull it in and the cells will begin to regain their highest potential of resonance as the powerful rhythmic vibrations of gongs and singing bowls resonate throughout the body.
During profound peaceful states of the mind, which are typically achieved during meditative phases, the body’s natural healing process is profoundly supported.
When we are healthy, everything in our bodies is vibrating in harmony or resonance. Dis-ease results when a part of our body begins to vibrate at a different rate, out of harmony with the rest.
The sound and resulting vibrations generated by the gongs and Himalayan singing bowls stimulate the theta brain frequencies that are commonly associated with deeper states of meditation. Heart and respiratory rates slow down, creating a favorable healing effect upon the body’s entire system. During a sound bath or a gong session, stress is being released and a restoration of the body’s natural equilibrium is made possible.
We all can get stuck in negative vibrations when we don’t feel our soul’s presence and unity with life. Something blocks and is in the way – limiting beliefs, fear, lies, misperceptions – or just simply the experience of fragmentation and empty space. Every “missing piece” of one’s soul that is not experienced lowers one’s frequency. When one’s awareness is split into fragments, one’s vibration slows. Raising one’s vibratory frequency prevents the falling into unhealthy feeling habits, negative thinking and sluggish physical health.
Resonance and entrainment
The qualities inherent in the dynamics of resonance and entrainment that are generated by sound, non-healthy parts of the body that have fallen into a state of dissonance, can be brought back to a natural and harmonious state of vibrational frequencies. You can actually see what the vibrations of sound do to matter on our Cymatics page.
Greater harmony
When properly mobilized, sound and vibration enter the healing equation from several directions. They can specifically entrain the human organism toward the greater harmony and homeostasis (a state of equilibrium) that it requires to remain vibrant and to regenerate after experiencing stress, injury, or illness.
Sound and sound vibration can help restore regulatory function to a body out of tune and helps to maintain as well as enhance regulatory function to a body in tune. It may alter cellular functions through energetic effects; it may entrain biological systems to function more homeostatically; it may calm the mind and
therefore the body; or it may have emotional effects, which influence neurotransmitters and neuropeptides, which in turn help to regulate the immune system – the healer that resides within us.
When the body, or parts thereof, fall into a state of low vibrational frequency, oftentimes a result from illnesses or mental imbalances of varying degrees, one feels “out of sync”.
In this sort of a weakened state, a stronger and more powerful source, such as the vibration and sound of gongs, singing bowls, drums etc. have the tendency to re-generate a higher, stronger vibratory field. This leads us to entrainment…
Entrainment demonstrated
This phenomenon occurs through the process of entrainment. Entrainment was discovered by Dutch scientist Christiaan Huygens in 1666. Huygens who invented the pendulum clock, discovered that when two pendulum clocks were mounted side by side on a wall, they would swing together in precise rhythm and hold their mutual beat. Far beyond their capacity to be matched in mechanical accuracy.
Entrainment means that any two vibrating bodies will try and synchronize with each other, whereby the body with the more powerful vibrations will eventually take over the weaker one. The following 32 Metronome Synchronization demonstrates the entrainment concept very powerfully and clearly.
Shamans have known
So, do you resonate with what you read above, or at least parts of it? Or are you still skeptical?
Please consider that shamans throughout the world have known for millennia that the human being is the greatest tool available for acquiring knowledge.
Using their bodies, minds, and spirits to gather vital information about the world, shamans have understood that epistemology (how we know what we know) is closely linked to consciousness.
Shamans participate in the world and gain knowledge in a way that is rarely understood by modern people: through direct participatory knowing.
With their unique vibratory frequencies, instruments such as gongs, drums, didgeridoos, rattles, whistles etc. are known to open up channels within, which bridge a connection with your higher Self.
A ‘shaman’ and early quantum physicist in his own way, the German writer and politician Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
In the wake of the Newtonian revolution, the German writer and politician Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749—1832) dared to propose a different sort of science that was like these shamanistic traditions holistic, participatory, and qualitative. Although historically known for his poetry and prose, Goethe was alarmed that mechanistic science was encroaching into the realm of living systems.
Goethe felt that reductionistic, analytical thinking, when applied to biology and related disciplines, was inapplicable at best and dangerous at worst.
Through painstaking research, he established a three-step method of investigation designed to facilitate the perception of phenomena directly.
1. Consciousness
The first step is to change one’s mode of consciousness to the intuitive-holistic mind, commonly found in indigenous worldviews, through such practices as drumming (and the sounds of gongs), ecstatic dance, or a general change in attitude toward one of thanksgiving, respect, and receptivity.
2. Observation
The next step, active observation, rests on the belief that the observer affects the observed, an idea that is integral to quantum theory, which came nearly a century after Goethe.
3. Integration
The last step of Goethe’s method asks the researcher to become an organ of expression of the phenomenon, like the shaman who becomes possessed by a plant, animal, or nature spirit in order to gain knowledge or power and then communicates from that perspective.
As many religions and traditions throughout history have found out, the process of transformation to wholeness begins with a heightened state of awareness and consciousness.
Whatever is coming your way, whatever Life is presenting you with, is doing so in response to the vibrations that you are offering due to the thoughts you are thinking.
More here on the power of belief.
In the end it is all about vibrations…
Dr. Bruce Lipton, author of the bestselling “Biology of Belief” prompts one to expand one’s mind. Just watch this video and consider what would your life be like if you learned that you are more powerful than you have ever been taught? "When you look in the mirror and see yourself and you see like one person looking back? That is not true.
You are made out of 50 trillion cells. And the cells are the living entities. So you are a community, not a single person. But your mind is the government for the 50 trillion cells!
